1 RXCODE |
Receive Code
RX Tone or Digital Coded Squelch - CTCSS
/ DCS
- Prevents interference from
signals on the same frequency.
- The squelch will open only if the incoming signal is
coded with the same tone/code required by your receiver.
- Note: Not all repeaters requiring a tone/code for access
transmit a tone back to you. Leave this
function turned OFF unless you are absolutely sure it is needed.
|
OFF / CTCSS / DCS |
2
TXCODE |
Transmit Code
- Required by some networks to limit
access and interference.
|
OFF / CTCSS / DCS |
3
SQL |
Squelch Level
- Squelch silences the receiver when there is no signal.
|
0, 1 > 9 |
4
LIGHT |
LCD Illumination
|
OFF / ON / KEY |
5
BEEP /
K TONE |
Keypad Beep / Tone
- Allows audible confirmation of a key press.
|
OFF / ON |
6
VOX |
Voice Operated TX
- Allows transmitter activation by talking only.
- Adjust VOX gain to allow smooth operation.
- Level 9 requires the strongest voice.
|
0, 1 > 9 |
7
POWER |
RF Power Level
|
HIGH / LOW |
8
DW |
Dual Watch / Dual Reception
- Allows monitoring of 2 channels in VFO mode.
- If a signal is received, the RX remains
on that channel until the signal is gone.
|
OFF / ON |
9
STEP |
Frequency Step
- Amount of frequency change when using Up/Down arrows or
when scanning in VFO Mode.
|
5 6.25 10 12.5 20 25 kHz |
10 OFFSET |
Frequency shift amount
- Specifies frequency difference between
TX and RX.
|
00.000 > 37.995 MHz
00.000 > 69.995 MHz
in 5 kHz steps |
11 SHIFT |
Frequency shift direction
- Enables access of repeaters in VFO/FREQ
mode.
OFF
TX = RX (simplex)
+ (plus) TX shifted Higher in freq
than RX
- (minus) TX shifted Lower in freq than RX
|
0, +, - |
12 STE |
Squelch Tail Elimination
- Requires two radios with STE set to ON
- Not for repeater use
* For Ham use, set to OFF.
|
OFF / ON |
13 W / N |
Wideband / Narrowband
- Wide = 5 KHz Narrow = 2.5 KHz
|
WIDE / NARROW |
14 SAVE |
Battery Save
- TX drops to Low Power when receiving a strong signal.
|
OFF / ON |
15 TOT |
Transmission Time Out Timer
- Transmit Times Out after pre-selected time.
- Radio will alert you when the time is up.
|
OFF, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 Seconds |
16 SCANM |
Scan Resume Method
TO (Time Operation) Scan stops when signal detected.
Scan resumes after after predetermined time.
CO (Carrier Operation) Scan stops when signal detected.
Scan resumes when signal disappears.
|
OFF / CTCSS / DCS |
17 RELAYM |
Receiver Delay
- When ON, receiver is delayed approx 1/2 second to mask a repeater's
Roger tone when releasing the PTT.
|
OFF / ON |
18 BCLO |
Busy Channel Lockout
- Prevents transmitting on a busy
frequency.
- If another repeater or signal is present using a different CTCSS or DCS
code, your transmitter will be 'locked out' to prevent interference.
|
OFF / ON |
19 PRI |
Priority Channel Scanning
- Sets priority Channel Scanning Mode.
