The UV-17 Pro GPS
 
This model is the upper end full featured, which includes features such as:
AM Aircraft receiver, NOAA weather channels, GPS, 1000 channels with 10 channels banks, a high resolution color LCD, and a battery that can be charged with a USB C-cable.
 
 
 
The Basic UV-17 series
 
These are being marketed under several model names, such as:
   UV-17    17 Plus    17 Pro    17L    17R    17 V2    17 Max
These are basic dual band (136-174, 400-520MHz), Mono display / no Aircraft Band / no GPS
 
 
 
Other UV-17 models
 
There are also some models with a mix of features. For example: 6 Bands with no GPS.
 
 
 
Why so many names?
 
The reason for the multiple names is by vendor recognition.
This helps identify the source of the vendor for the purpose of returns and exchanges.
A vendor selling a UV-17(x) will not be responsible for accepting a UV-17(y) under warranty, return or exchange.
 
 
 
Know your Vendor
 
Use a referral from someone who has made a prior purchase. 
This is to assure you will get the desired model that was ordered.
