The current factory software for the UV-17 Pro GPS (v1.2.4) is not without its issues. The major shortcoming is Not allowing Aircraft channels (108 - 136 MHz AM) to be entered via software.
There is a modified / updated software available which has corrected several bugs and added a few extra software features.
This modified version of the original software has been tested in a Windows 10 PC environment and appears to work fine.
Some of the changes and additions include:
- Correct lower VHF Limit to 108 MHz (was 136 MHz)
This allows AM Aircraft frequencies to be entered via the software.
- Cut and Paste of Channels and Channel Groups
- Bidirectional Import/Export data to CSV format
Note: Not compatible with CHIRP.
- Upload a Custom Start Up image
- Much improved Font and Color Scheme.
- Voice Pack editor
- Column sorting

Loading the Modified software
- Unzip the program file (setup.exe)
- Program will create its own directory and desktop icon.

Note: This is an unofficial modified software. it has been beta tested by several users with no issues found. Only success.
As with any non-factory software, save your original image file as a backup.

In the software there is an option under Tools to upload a new start up image.
