History When ordering an MMDVM hotspot with a larger screen, you will find that screen manufactured by either Nextion or TJC. Although the two screens are physically interchangeable, the software is not. The software used to create/edit a TJC image is written in Chinese, so unlike Nextion screens, options are very limited and the ability to create custom screens is pretty much out of the question. The purpose of the page is to provide a few options that have been previously developed for the TJC product. Stock Image This is the basic screen image supplied with MMDVM hotspots with the TLC 3.2" display. The character size, quality and spacing may vary, possibly due to a smaller image stretched to match a 3.2" format.
I found one screen option for the TJC 3.2" screen shown below, written by Sonic in 2018.
TFT file - 3.2 Sonic (20181001) 2.1Mb To update the display image requires a MicroSD card. - Open the case and lift the LCD display from the mounting screws. - Locate the MicroSD slot on the side of the display. (Not the Pi board) - Copy the .tft file to a formatted MicroSD card. - With no power applied to the LCD, insert the MicroSD card into the slot. - Apply power to the LCD and you will see the software upload to the screen. (10 seconds)
- When complete, remove the MicroSD card. Now, to configure your PiStar dashboard, under "MMDVMHost Configuration", set display type as follows. - MMDVM Display Type = Nextion - Port = Modem - Nextion Output = ON7LDS L3 HS Your new display screen should now be active.
