The programming UART chip is
in the radio, not the cable, and the proper drivers load automatically making the
cable virtually Plug and Play.
What makes this radio unique is the programming cable is a standard USB
to Micro-USB cable. As shown in the picture below, there are two
input areas. One is for the programming cable, the other for
accessories.
The accessory jack is an HYT style. This is not compatible with
the Kenwood K1 jack found on many handhelds.
