Power Ratings

Power Supplies are rated by their Peak and Continuous 'Current' output.
- Peak Power refers to the maximum Current a supply can produce for a short duration of time.
- Continuous refers to the sustained power level produced over an extended period,
For radio transmitter use, the Continuous Power is what should be considered.

Noise Offset

As well filtered and regulated as they are, there's always the possibility of noise spike showing up. The newer supplies offer a noise adjust which allows the user to shift this noise to a different frequency if this should occur.

Fixed and Variable

The RPS-30PRO and 50PRO include both fixed and variable output. 13.8VDC for DC powered radio equipment and 9-15V for bench or lab work.

Connections

While basic supplies provide Power Terminals and Cigarette Lighter Plugs, upper end supplies provide higher Continuous power, Metering and additional connection options.
The high end supplies provide additional features such as Noise Offset and Variable Voltage. Some newer supplies include Anderson Powerpole connections and USB-C output power ports.

Below is a list of features included with the BTech series of power supplies.

My personal experience

I was previously using and RPS-30PRO which has served me flawlessly for the past several years. The RPS-50PRO is a welcomed upgrade with additional features including two USB-C power ports and Anderson Powerpole connections on the front panel. Also the enlarged DC Posts on the back allows me to connect multiple power cables without overloading the terminals.

The RPS-50PRO layout is deep rather than wide. It is only 7.5" wide and 11.0" deep giving me a bit more equipment room. This one unit provides continuous 50A and is the only power supply necessary to power every piece of radio equipment on the desk.

If being used to power a repeater, continuous duty transmit should never be an issue.
