Scan List
This is a list containing individual Scan Groups.
Each Scan Group contains a list of channels that will be scanned if that group is
part of a channel's information.
Channel Information
There is a field in each channels setup called Scan List.
This is where a specified group to be scanned is assigned to that channel.
What channels get Scanned
Whenever your current channel has a scan list assigned, and you select
the radio's SCAN function, the group assigned to that channel will be scanned.
The red LED will flash to indicate that the radio is scanning.
- If your current channel has no scan list assigned, your radio will not scan.
- Adding a Scan Group to a channel does not add that channel to the Scan Group. It only assigns a group to be scanned.
- Selecting scan does NOT select other channels in your current zone
unless they are also assigned to that scan group.
Let's get started...
Creating a Scan List
The first thing we need to do is select the channels we want to scan.
From the main menu, Right click on the Scan List tab.
Click on the 'Add' tab, and create a Scan List name.
You can now rename the list name to something more
identifiable.
From the list of available channels, select up to 16 channels to be
included.
Transmit Priority
At this time you can also select the transmit priority.
The example above shows:
- No transmit priority
- Transmit on the last active channel.
In this instance, if the receiver stops on a scanned channel, pressing the PTT
will return to the last active channel.
You also have the option to return to a specific channel.
The scan list now needs to be attached to a specified channel.
Go to the Channel Information dropdown and select the desired
channel.
Go to the Scan List dropdown and select the group to be scanned.
In the example below, I attached 'Scan Group 1' to
channel 'Local 2 DMR'

Note: In the General Settings menu,
there is a Scan Hang Time setting that allows a scanned channel to hang
up to 10 seconds before returning to the initial channel.
There are two ways to activate the scan mode.
One is using the menu.
-
Press MENU

The other is to program the side keys as shown below.
I'm sure this is probably a bit more complex than what you may be used to, but once you get used to it,
it all makes sense.
