- The BL-8 USB-C Battery
Product Description
The BL-8 USB-C is an 1800mAh battery with the charger and regulation circuitry built into
the battery.
A look at the base shows the
standard USB-C connector used as the charging port. This requires a standard
USB-C charging cable and eliminates to need for the standard charging base.
Backward Compatible - As shown below, the battery can still be charged using the
standard charger cradle that originally came with the radio, or the
CH-8-6 Gang Charger.
Hiking, Camping, Emergency, GoBox, etc.
When there's no power available for the standard charger cradle, I use a
portable power bank that goes with me when I'm on a trip and need to charge my iPhone. It's
one I picked up on Amazon for less than $30. It's a 38600mAh Power Bank. You
can get several full 1800mAh chargers from this one.
Car Charging
Most cars today come with USB charging ports right in the dash. A simple USB to
USB-C cable keeps the radio fully charged until you need it.
Charging Cable
Good News. Unlike some batteries that require a special cable, this battery will
charge using any standard USB-C cable. You can pick these up at the Dollar Tree
for next no nothing.
Charge Indicators
Charge status indicators are located on the base of the battery, with red
indicating the battery is being charged and Green showing the battery is full
and ready to go.
The radio can be in use while the battery is plugged in and charging.

Conclusion
At this time I can see this being the wave of the future, especially for
camping, hiking and SHTF operation when an AC charger just isn't practical.
